Dell Plans To Organize An Enterprise Conference to Prove That It Is Not Just A Hardware Company, But Also A Service Provider

Dell, as every computer user is quite familiar with, is a computer manufacturer company dealing with hardwares. This is the long time perception of Dell customers. However, Dell has been involved in providing IT services since long. To change the perception of its customers, Dell has decided to hold its first enterprise conference.

This conference is being held to aware its customers about its services and other ventures that it is involved in, as predicted by some of its customers.

A regular and prominent customer of Dell, Thomas Glaser says that “Going through this has been a real eye-opener,” Glaser is the vice president of IT at Howard Community College in Columbia, Md and has been wandering through the exhibits presented in the trade show. Glaser has been buying Dell hardware product over years and still was unaware about its other services. He says “It’s hard to get that awareness without walking through a facility like this.”

Another Dell customer, Dan Bracy, director of IT at Orthofix, a medical services company in Dallas, informed that he was invited to attend the conference by his Dell representatives. Dan had moved on to other supplier due to some technical faults he had encountered with the Dell notebooks. But after visiting the Dell’s conference, he is making his mind to return to the Dell products. When asked about the Dell services, Dan said that Dell’s name would be up in his preference list.

At the conference, the Dell authorities talked about the new and exclusive features of Dell Services. Michael Dell, the chairman and CEO, said “the company is rapidly evolving to end-to-end solutions to the cloud, data center, and still to the client.”

Dell has enlarged its services by growing year by year. It took a big step into services when it acquired the Perot Systems in 2009, back behind the HP, which bought this in 2008. Firms like Compellent, a data technology firm and Secure Works, a security firm, have also been acquired by Dell. Apart from this, the company is also increasing its research-and-development efforts day-by-day, which shows its unmatched success in the Services category.
