Facebook competes with Google+ with its Business Friendly Page, “Facebook For Business” On Tuesday, July 26, 2011, Facebook launched its new venture, “Facebook for Business”. It is a complete guideline and tips page, designed specifically for its Small Business user groups. This launch generated gossips, as it was done after Google+ discontinued its social networks for businesses. Earlier, google+ started the removal of business accounts from its social networking portal. Google+ now limited itself to individual networking and discarded its social networking service for business. Big names like Ford and Mashable, were removed from its list. However, later on these names were added on again, as Google+ decided to continue its business networking service, but limiting it to a small scale i.e., only a few business companies will be allowed to have their business accounts on Google+. This decision, to squeeze its social networking services for businesses was taken after Google detected some faults in its business version. Though, it will not last forever. Sometime later, maybe by the end of this year, Google+ will resume its business version of social networking. Meanwhile, facebook has taken the lead to initiate and go on with the business networking approach. Its latest release, “Facebook For Business” is a step-by-step guidance to establish small businesses. Its pages consist of instructions and guidelines on how to set up a Facebook “Page” for your business, how to increase visits to your site using “Sponsored Stories” and how to promote your business. It also includes guides on how to involve people, create custom-made mobile experience, try hands on building apps in facebook and many more. As reported in an email to GigaOm, on the eve of the launch for “Facebook For Business”, it was mentioned as: “Facebook allows small businesses to create rich social experiences, build lasting relationships and amplify the most powerful type of marketing–word of mouth. We created Facebook.com/business to make it even easier for people to reach these objectives and grow.” This shows that facebook wants to make the world feel its presence in the business networking domain and it is all set for this. |
