Lenovo Unveils New Tablets, Smartphone and Plans ‘Smart TV’

After setting up its empire in the computer market and being the number two in PC vendors, just behind HP, Lenovo is now moving forward to explore other IT sectors. In this move, it has stepped in the business of modern age smartphones and tablets.On Tuesday, Lenovo unveiled its smartphone and three new tablets for the Chinese market, and is planning to bring a smart TV product in the first quarter of 2012. Though the name for the up to launch smart TV’s has been revealed, other details will be disclosed later, confirmed the Lenovo officials. According to them, the Lenovo smart TVS will be referred as “IdeaTV” in the International market. The basic technology used for all the three: Smartphones, Tablets and SmartTV are similar and they will be configured in such a way so that they can share contents between each other easily.

All the above announcements regarding the SmartTV product were made in the Launching ceremony of the smartphone and tablets. On this very event, Lenovo also showed its second generation LePad tablet series, which are designed for the Chinese customers.

The LePad02 series Lenovo’s tablets have been launched in three screen sizes: 5, 7 and 10 inches. Both the 7- and 10-inch tablets have a user interface, which resembles to a checkerboard having each icon tile connecting to the services and applications. These tablets have a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and run the Android 3.2 operating system. Designed for the Chinese market both these LePad02 version tablets support China Telecom’s EVDO networks and Unicom’s WCDMA.

Unlike the other two, the 5-inch tablet runs Android 2.3, has a dual core 1.2 GHz processor and supports Unicom’s HSDPA data network.

These “Le” series devices, which are specifically designed for the Chinese market, will be sold under the brand name of “idea” brand name outside of China. For eg: The LePhone will be called as “ideaphone” In the international market.
