Windows 7 Overtakes XP Globally

After being acknowledged for its psecific features, Microsoft Windows 7 has now overtook  Windows  XP. Windows 7 has recently taken 40.5 percent of the global market share, whereas XP is still at 38.5 percent. With respect to this market share as recorded in October, Windows 7 has taken the lead among the Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Earlier Windows Vista was supposed to overtake XP, but failed due to its declined market share of just 11.2 percent, as recorded by the StatCounter Global Stats.

“Vista was like the ugly sister that few wanted to dance with,” said Aodhan Cullen, the CEO of StatCounter. “Despite Microsoft trying to keep it back in the kitchen, XP has retained tremendous loyalty over the last decade. However, it looks like the younger Windows 7 is now emerging in the Cinderella role.” He added.

As analyzed by the StatCounter, Windows 7 had overtook XP in Europe in July, and in United States in the month of April this year. Though, winning in the Western World, Windows 7 failed to overtake XP in Asia,
with just 36 percent of the market share, which is 19 percent less than that of Windows XP. Vista remains at 5 percent.

These analysis of global wedb market share by StatCounter Global Stats are performed on grounds of aggregate data that are collected on a sample of more than 15 billion page views every month. These page
views are calculated from the StatCounter network, which expands through more than three million websites.
